Why Blue Lotus?

More than a name...

As with many things, there is often more than meets the eye. A name does not only provide a title for someone or something but can hold deep meaning. As you learn more about me and the services I provide, it is important to understand the meaning behind the name.

The lotus flower’s daily life cycle is one of resiliency and strength. The flower roots itself in the mud of mirky waters while its stem grows upward toward the surface where the bloom develops. A protective coating ensures the flower is not damaged by the mud and water it has developed in. When ready, it slowly opens one petal at a time and emerges from the water in pristine form. The bloom closes at night and submerges under the water until the sun rises again.

With such an impressive lifecycle, it is no shock that it holds significance to many groups of people and spiritual practices. The blue lotus often represents rebirth, creation, and enlightenment. The lifecycle is believed to represent the individual’s ability to blossom despite the circumstances in which it began.

I view the therapeutic process and experience in the same way the lotus flower develops and blooms. As we begin to heal and become new versions of ourselves, it can be murky, delicate, and transformative. The work below the surface will give way to a beautifully resilient version of ourselves.
